My Top 5 Resource Picks
Here's the scoop on my top 5 resource picks for all humans.
If you have any resources that have made a difference in how you look at death, dying or grief, please let me know and we will add it to our list.
- If you seek out no other information on death and dying, this 4-minute video is a MUST SEE. Dying is not as bad as you think features palliative physician Dr. Kathryn Mannix who reminds us and reassures us of the ancient wisdom of dying.
- End Of Life Planning Canada toolkit (Nova Scotia edition) – Although a bit outdated (2016), this workbook is a great, plain language resource. It includes a helpful exercise on pages 7-12 to ensure your Substitute Decision Maker is clear on your wishes, as well as excellent information on CPR. Note: EOL Planning Canada is no longer operational so I think this is the only place to get this gem of a resource.
- In this 6-minute video, Stephen Jenkinson, teacher and activist, talks about the need to find meaning at the end of life. "What has to die is your refusal to die, your refusal for things to end." I hope this video inspires you to delve deeper into Jenkinson's work.
- How not to say the wrong thing – This article provides a simple formula to ward off 'foot-in-mouth disease'. Ring Theory is brilliant!
- Grief – Print this and tape it to your fridge door as an everyday reminder that your grief is unique and will not unfold according to anyone else’s timeline.
